How do I write a good author profile for my blog? Is an author profile really necessary for me to rank? Does author profile on your website signifies authority? If you are looking for answers to one of these questions, I got your back.
When I created my first website on Blogger, one of the few things I thought was not important was my profile. It was until few months Google started to update their rankings systems. Unfortunately, my blog was hit and I lost tons of traffic.
Wait, do not get me wrong about what I just said. You may be interested in knowing whether there is any direct link between author profile and google rankings. Well, there is. I will be explaining why later in this article.
What is an author profile? An author profile is a section or page of your blog or website that provides detail information about the author or authors responsible for contributing to the contents of the website.
An author profile typically include the name of the authors, a photograph of the author, a short bio that describes the author's background, expertise, and qualifications. Other important elements to include are social media links, contact information, and website or blog links.
To understand what your blog is about, why it was created, who created the blog, whether you are qualified, Google uses signals such like EEAT. EEAT is simply Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthy.

These signals tells Google whether to rank or trust your website. Once Google scans your website and finds no signal of EEAT, your site is doomed to fail. Your are likely going to rank poorly on its search engine.
Having an author profile with your qualifications indicates to Google that the pages are been written by someone expert having the experience and qualification. For instance, you cannot be web developer and create a blog on Fisheries.
Also, for review sites, Google looks at signals such as the reviewer coming in direct contact with the product. An author profile on your website makes your blog look credible and trustworthy.
After the September 2023 helpful content update, I realized two of my sites without an author profile were tanked while the one with good profile ranked higher. Whether Google denies it or not there is a correlation between a good author profile and rankings.
