One of the challenges submitting your Blogger posts for indexing is redirect error. Unfortunately without getting our pages indexed on Google console, it is absolutely impossible to get search traffic.

When I first created my Blogger site, I was not able to get it indexed on Google search console. After much scrutiny, I discovered there was technical error on my URL. As someone who could not code, I had watch YouTube tutorials to understand how to fix it.

It is for this reason I have written this article so many Bloggers like me will be able to fix redirect error in Google search console. I recommend you carefully read the article to the end.

Possible Causes of Redirect Error in Search Console

  • Https unavailability
  • DNS settings not correctly matched or not yet done propagating
  • A records and CNAME records not correctly pointed to Google servers

Fixing Blogger Redirect Error in Google Search Console

Method 1 (The Best Method)

1. Identify the specific URL

Identify the specific URL you want to index via Googlebot Smartphone. For instance, let's use the URL from your query: "https://www.jameskipo.site/2024/07/how-to-fix-blogger-redirect-error-on-google-search-console.html’’.

2. Add the "?m=1" Parameter

Add the "?m=1" parameter at the end of the URL. This will instruct Googlebot to crawl and index the URL as a mobile page.

After adding the above parameter to the URL, you will have something like this

3. Request Indexing Again

After adding the "?m=1" parameter, you can request indexing again for the modified URL. This will allow Googlebot Smartphone to crawl and index the URL as a mobile page.

I am very confident that after this method, your blogger redirect error on search console should be able to get fixed. If you still get the error, you can now proceed to the next method.

Method 2

If you are not able to fix your Blogger redirect error on Search console with the first method, follow the second method below:

1. Check Your Blogger Settings

  • Make sure that HTTPS redirection is enabled in your Blogger settings.
  • Go to your Blogger dashboard.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Scroll down to the HTTPS section.
  • Ensure that "HTTPS Availability" and "HTTPS Redirect" are turned on.

2. Examine Your Custom Domain Settings

  • Ensure your DNS settings are correctly configured if you’re using a custom domain.
  • Verify that the A records and CNAME records are correctly pointing to Google’s servers.

3. Inspect Your Redirects

  • Check if you have set up any custom redirects in your Blogger settings that might be causing issues.
  • Go to Settings and navigate to Errors and redirects > Custom redirects.
  • Ensure there are no misconfigured redirects causing loops or chains.

4. Check for Redirect Loops or Chains

  • Online tools like Redirect Checker to check for redirect loops or long redirect chains.
  • Ensure that each URL redirects directly to the final destination without unnecessary intermediate steps.
5. Use Google Search Console Tools

  • Use the URL inspection tool to check the affected URL.
  • Go to Google Search Console.
  • Enter the URL in the URL Inspection tool.
  • Check for details on the redirect error.

It is essential to always log in to your Google search console account and go to the coverage report to check what is actually causing the redirect error. Google console will surely notify users the exact problem.
