Blogger blog |
Whether you have been trying to rank your blog or you are a beginner looking to rank your blog, you have come to the right place. Here I am going to teach you how I ranked my Blogger/Blogspot blog. I have blogs hosted on Blogger which I was able to rank even higher than blogs hosted on WordPress.
I have constantly heard from many WordPress users that Blogger is hard to rank. Some have even gone to the extent of having to forcefully buy domain and hosting when they have no money to invest in their blogs.
I remembered in 2023 when I gave my blogger URL to someone to check something, he was like 'Oh bro, why are you still using blogger? Don't you know Blogger is difficult to rank"?. I was a bit surprised because this guy claims to be a professional SEO blogger.
If you are reading this as a newbie blogger wishing to go into the world of blogging, make sure to read everything as I take you through some of the strategies I adopt to rank my blogspot blogs.
Strategies to Rank Blogger Blog
Herd are all the measures I employed to rank my blog hosted on Blogger:
Niche
To me, the most important part of ranking your blog is the niche. Whenever I want to create a new blog, I do lots of research to identify a niche with less blogs. It is no secret that some niches are more saturated than others.
Also, Google treat some niches very seriously. These niches are usually call 'Your Money or Your Life' (YMYL) niches. How well you rank on these niches depends on your expertise, authority, qualifications and experience. Example of some YMYL niches are finance, health, news and others.
I don't usually go in for these niches not because I can't rank, but because I don't have the experience, expertise and qualifications to perform well on search. However, if you have the qualifications to start a YMYL blog, you are welcomed.
Experience, Expertise Authority and Trustworthy
Google has recently introduced the EEAT guidelines to understand how well an author understands a particular topic. Before creating a Blogger blog, ask yourself these questions? Am I experienced in what I'm about to write? Will readers trust my content? How will the content impact someone's life?
Note that having a blog that follows all of Google's EEAT guidelines is one of the best ways to do a long-time business with Google. Having a blog with poor EEAT will definitely get your blog penalized in the future. Therefore, in order to gain favor from Google, create a blogger blog that follows all of Google's EEAT guidelines.
Proper Keyword Research
One of the most important aspect of every SEO is keyword research. Keyword research simply means identifying what your audience are searching for online. I usually go for long tail keywords since they are easy to rank.
An example of long tail keyword is 'how to rank your blog higher on Google search engine'. Short keywords are usually difficult to rank unless you have a strong and well-established blog.
I use tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to find relevant keywords with high search volume and low competition and also focus on long-tail keywords as they are more specific and less competitive, increasing my chances of ranking higher.
Quality Content Creation
Every SEO will agree with me that content is king. I make sure my content is engaging, informative, and provides value to my readers. High-quality content is more likely to be shared and linked to. I also write original contents since that is what Google favors.
Always try to avoid duplicating content from other sites and focus on creating unique posts. While there's no magic word count, longer, in-depth articles (1,500+ words) tend to perform better in search rankings according to many SEOs.
Note that I was able to rank a blog post with less than 500 words. It all depends on the competition of your niche. As I indicated earlier, having a less saturated niche is likely to get your blogger blog rank faster.
On-Page SEO Optimization
Another way I rank my blogger blog is through On-page SEO. Many WordPress users still think blogs hosted on Bloggers cannot be optimized since we do not have SEO plugins like Rank math. Fortunately I'm able to rank my site without a third-party tool.
I include my primary keyword in the title tag. I Make it compelling to increase click-through rates (CTR). Also, I write concise meta descriptions that include my target keywords. Although it doesn't directly impact rankings, a good meta description can improve my CTR.
Do not forget to use H1 tags for your main title and H2/H3 tags for subheadings. Incorporate keywords naturally within these headers. Do well to link to other relevant posts within your blog. This helps search engines understand the structure of your site and improves user experience.
